What does the Whitmore Lake Community Scholarship fund do?

Since 1974, the Community Scholarship Fund's mission has been to reward our young people who have succeeded in academics, extra curricular activities and community service.

Due to your support last year, we were able to award thirty eight $1,000 scholarships to graduating seniors! You can imagine how welcome scholarships are to local families as they send their children to college in a world of skyrocketing tuition costs and an uncertain economy.

We are a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit and 100% of all donations go to scholarship recipients.

Thank you for your continued support for our community!

How are the scholarships funded?

We rely on your financial support to continue delivering our mission to future Whitmore Lake High School graduates as they set out to further their education. Our goal for 2022 is to maintain or increase the number of $1,000 scholarships. You can help us accomplish this goal and show our graduates that their hometown community is behind them by making a donation today. Your name or business will be listed in the program given out at WLHS Senior Awards Night in May when our scholarships are awarded.

We welcome donations of all sizes as even the smallest donations make a big difference.

Can I designate a donation in honor of a loved one, community member or business?

Absolutely! You may designate your donation to honor members of the Whitmore Lake community or donate to the general community scholarship fund. Honorees include Donna Ball, Glenn Bachman, Julianna M. Brown, Bonnie Henry Carpenter, Georgene Theresa Dignan, Sue Johnson, Anna Belle Hunt, James Monroe, and Larry Steeb. Learn more on our Scholarships page.

You can also fund a full scholarship (minimum $1,000), which you can name after your business or a loved one. If you choose to fund a scholarship, you will be invited to participate in the awards ceremony. While being part of the ceremony is not required, it is a rewarding experience to shake a recipient’s hand and present his/her scholarship. The proud smiles of our students, their parents and families warm the heart and make our work worthwhile. To get started click HERE.

Do you partner with any other Whitmore Lake community groups?

Yes! Through our unified application process we partner with several other Whitmore Lake community groups who give annual scholarships to deserving graduates. This process makes it easier on our students as they only have one application to fill out for around 30 scholarships.

Partner groups include:
Whitmore Lake Board of Education
Whitmore Lake Chamber of Commerce
Whitmore Lake Education Association (Teachers)
Whitmore Lake Kiwanis
Whitmore Lake Public Schools Athletics
Whitmore Lake Public Schools Transportation

The unified application can be found here.
